A Fitness bucket list will help you reach your goals
I’m sure that almost everyone knows what a bucket list is, probably largely thanks to the similarly named movie. I have compiled a Fitness bucket list for myself. My goal for the year was to simply stick to my training plans. As mentioned my post 5 Realistic steps for how to set goals with Fibromyalgia and chronic pain it’s not always that easy. However, I persisted and have managed to increase my hip mobility considerably. I’m not quite back to where I was last year, but I am steadily getting there.
This morning I spent a little time clicking through Twitter and ended up on a link to the site Bucketlist.org I really like this website as it provides a sense of accountability which is crucial to successfully completing any goal. Oftentimes I find myself forgetting the smaller milestones which I need to reach first. Going through the different ideas on the website helped me regain a bit of focus. Again referencing the 5 Steps post, it is important to remember that you need to work within your limitations. With Fibromyalgia and chronic pain, you will find that your limitations are not always carved in stone. I had my heart set on taking part in the Sanlam Cape Mil again this year, but I simply have not been able to get in the training required for me to do that. That’s just how it goes. I do however intend to take part in the Bridge House Mile this year for the first time. It’s important to remain flexible with your expectations. If you don’t, you will start having doubts about whether you are able to reach your goals.
My Fitness bucket list includes:
Great White MTB & Trail Run
Bridge House Open Water Swim
Table Mountain hikes (Platteklip Gorge, Skeleton Gorge and Maclear’s Beacon in particular)
I am very curious about taking part in the Langebaan Lagoon Crossing, however, 4km of open water is mentally extremely daunting for me. Perhaps I work up the guts, watch this space!
And my ultimate goal – the Hamburg Wasser Triathlon. Completing this goal will be a great personal achievement.
I would love to hear what activities or events you are planning on taking part in during the next few months.
